One Activity, Many Ways: Cheese Container & Straws | San Antonio Baby Sign Language Classes

One Activity, Many Ways: Cheese Container & Straws | San Antonio Baby Sign Language Classes

Y'all know me: always on the lookout for a quick and easy toddler activity; extra bonus points if the materials are free and/or found around the house. :) This one is a winner!

Materials:
Empty (clean) Parmesan cheese container
Drinking straws cut into pieces (length depends on age of child)

Yield: Hours and hours of quiet entertainment!

Kate (28 months) still loves to dump and fill, so that is her favorite way to play. She's also learning how to screw the lid on and off.

We also sorted the straws by color and then she said, "Let's count!"

She made it all the way to twelve by herself! (One-to-one correspondence is SO important that we're still working on it with the Kindergartner.)

What are some other ways you can think to extend the play?
